Editing and Consultation

I have a wide range of editorial and consultation experience across many genres and styles of nonfiction and poetry, as well as academic writing, internal and external communications (e.g. newsletters, social media posts, website content, internal processes), and pedagogical materials (e.g. MOOCs, middle and secondary school courses, post-secondary courses, lesson and unit plans, assessments and evaluations). I also have expertise in justice-based frameworks and anti-oppressive pedagogies.

I am currently Associate Poetry Editor at Plenitude Magazine, Contributing Editor at Arc Poetry Magazine, a member of the editorial board at Anstruther Press, and a peer reviewer for English Journal (National Council of Teachers of English). I have previously worked as Assistant Editor at The Temz Review and as a reader at The Rusty Toque. I am also currently the Education Manager at Defining Moments Canada, where I provide pedagogical expertise on large-scale historical research projects as well as content and copy edits for a variety of written materials, with a focus on education resources.

My editorial approach is responsive, compassionate, dialogical, and solutions-oriented. No matter the genre, style, form, or type of content I’m editing, I engage with both the micro and macro levels of a text. I like to ask questions to support authors in their thinking, and I prioritize offering multiple possibilities for next steps throughout my feedback.
